Discussed and started design of MiGrade with Phil. This app will help students keep track of their performance throughout their degree. It will be developed as a native app in XCode.
Met with Mark to discuss current progress. Mark agrees to carry out research in the use of iPad in Higher Education.
Just launched the iWestminster Website which currently consists of 1 page Will check that the project team agrees with look and feel tomorrow (Monday). Decided to develop it fully in HTML5.
Downloaded and used Firefogg to convert video files to .ogv
I just implemented a test video page using HTML5 which plays on the iPad inside the browser. This means that any video or podcast can be played inside the browser or web panel and students can play them from the same web address on various platforms. The appropriate file (mp4 or m4v and ogv) will be selected and play according to the browser and device accessing the page.
I completed the XML file for MiGrade. I hope to be able to reuse it for MiCourse in the future but some additional fields. The XML file represents the modules taken by a typical student on BEng Mobile and Web Computing. This will now enable Phil to write the XML parser in XCode for the application.
Phil purchased iAnnotate. This was one of the apps mentioned in the article that I sent to the team this morning. Phil will be testing the app and will report on this application shortly. Cost £5.99.
I found an interesting article related to the use of iPads in Higher Education this morning. Sent it to the proejct team as this will be useful information for the project.
Met with Catherine Loveday today to discuss how to best conduct surveys and studies. Thank you very much Catherine for all your very valuable input
I have uploaded on Google docs and shared with Phil and Mark the brainstorming document that I have been writing for the past few weeks. Some project ideas, requirements and questions for the questionnaire. This is a working document that will be updated on regular basis.
